As everybody is aware of (in the Christian communities) Easter is coming up and this year it falls on the same day for all Christians just like last year.

This means it also means it's Carnival season and Paralimni won't be left out either. The first event is as always on Tsiknopempti, which is where we usually stuff ourselves with meat before the fasting period begins on Green Monday. Usually Families and friends get together, wearing fancy dress is optional, and have a good time and plenty of food.

So what better then to hold a party in the middle of the Agiou Georgiou square in Paralimni on Thursday, February 24 from 7pm (19.00) there will be just that where you can come and welcome the King of the Carnival party, King Carnavallos. (We no clue who made up the name).

Next up is another party, this time taking place in Laxia Palace (on the road to Pernera/Protaras) on Saturday, March 5 from 8.30pm (20.30) until late on. The event called "Dancing by The Lake" is a fancy dress ball and music provided by Andreas Pitsillides band.

  • Unique Decorations and a Happy Enviroment
  • A wide menu with a large selection of food on offer
  • Entertainment, surprises, music & dance too.

all for the cost of €40 per a person.

If you don't want a crazy party, usually the families and/or friends get together and hold their own parties in the comfort of their homes where they don't need to worry about getting caught by the law.

Finally, last but not least is on Sunday, March 6 there is a Carnival Parade starting from 2.30pm (14.30) from the B' Infant (Dimotiko) School and continue down Protaras Avenue, Paralimni until it reaches Saint Georges Square (Agiou Georgiou) where the celebration will continue. The Municipality is asking for all the people to dress up and come along, advertise and support the celebrations. Even if the weather does decide to rain, it won't be too cold to continue the festivities sensibly and safely.

So, you can start planning where to go and arrange your plans and may include some of these events too.
