The word 'Kataklismos' means flood, its origin is believed to come from biblical events that describe the flooding of land. As with every year, the Paralimni Municipality organises events to celebrate and remember this event.
The programme begins on Saturday, June 6 at 8.30pm (20.30hrs) and ends with an Award Ceremony for the winners of the days races.

Saturday, June 6: Lefkolla Square, Protaras Avenue
8.30pm (20.30hrs): Traditional tunes played on a traditional Cypriot Flute called a pipe.
8.45pm (20.45hrs): Love verses and "Tsiattista" by local poets.
9.30pm (21.30hr): Traditional dances performed by the local Municipal Dance Esemble "Para tin Limni" (meaning by the lake, referring to the lake which the Town is built next to.
Sunday, June 7: Fig Tree Bay, Protaras
8.45pm (20.45hrs): Short speeches by the Mayor of Paralimni Mr. Andreas Evanggelou, then the Minister of Tourism and final the Reverend Bishop of Constantine - Famagusta Mr. Vassilios
Followed by Fireworks
9.00pm (21.00hrs): Live concert with Dionisi Makris and Vanesa Adamopoulou
Monday, June 8
7.00am (07.00hrs): Mass at the Church of Ayia Trias (Holy Trinity). The service will be conducted by the Most Reverend Bishop of Constantine - Famagusta Mr. Vassilios
9.00am (09.00hrs): Blessing of the waters at Ayias Trias Bay
1.00pm (13.00hrs): Sailing races at Ayias Trias Bay organised by the Famagusta Sailing Association "Begafigo"
3.00pm - 7.00pm (15.00 - 19.00hrs): Water Sports Competitions - open to the general public - Coast of Protaras organised by the Nautical Association Constantias.
7.00pm (19.00hrs): Award Ceromony. The winners of the competitions will be presented with their medals and trophies. Prizes given by the Paralimni Municipality.
